Tinder Culture Corner: How Internships Help Inspire the Future

Tindership: where early-career talent grows, makes an impact, and helps shape the future of connection.

Helping to shape how people connect is an incredible way to start a career. Through Tindership, Tinder’s signature internship program, early-stage talent has the chance to learn, collaborate, and contribute to the future of a global brand that’s the engine behind human connection.

“Tindership is an investment in the next generation of people who will shape how the world connects. We want to give new, young talent the opportunity to think big, challenge us, and discover what they’re capable of. Helping them build their future is part of how we build ours,” said Spencer Rascoff, Match Group CEO.

Here are a few reasons participating in a Tindership fuels possibility and leaves a lasting impact behind.
‍

Beyond Hands-On

Being an intern at Tinder means having the chance to do real work at an industry leader where ideas quickly translate to innovation.

“Nobody has ever treated me like 'just an intern’,” said Eian Blade, a Tinder Product Design Intern. “They see the passion past the title and trust our gut like they trust each other's, and finding that kind of trust at a company this big is something I didn't see coming. It means a lot.”

Across Engineering, Product, Design, Marketing, and Analytics, the Tindership program creates space for interns to contribute meaningfully, explore their interests, and learn from the people at the forefront of change.

Lexline Johnson, an iOS Engineer Intern, agrees. “My manager has also been very supportive and helped me find projects that allowed me to explore my interests while contributing to the team. Everyone on my team has also been very encouraging and helped me accomplish the things I was able to during my Tindership!”

Conversations and Connections

Our Executive Sessions give interns direct access to Tinder leaders and decision makers, including Spencer and executives across product, technology, marketing, and People. These aren’t presentations. They’re conversations that connect interns’ day-to-day to the bigger Tinder picture, giving them space to ask questions, share experience, and hear perspectives that help illuminate where their careers can take them.

In 2026, Spencer talked with interns about their vital role in Tinder’s story, and how they’re uniquely poised to make an impact. Other conversations with executives touched on how AI is changing the way we all work, what’s shaping our product vision, how we are building and evolving an authentic brand, and what it means to be a part of a value-driven culture that helps our teams innovate and grow.

Our Gen Z employee resource group brought another perspective through a conversation about the transition from intern to employee. Together, these exchanges give interns the opportunity to learn from leaders and peers, see new possibilities, and imagine their own next steps.

Connection Beyond the Project

Some of the most memorable connections happen between the scheduled sessions. Tindership also brings together our interns to have fun, strengthen friendships, and create lasting memories.

Los Angeles interns headed to Dodger Stadium to watch a game, and just up the coast Palo Alto interns got to watch the San Francisco Giants play. Los Angeles interns took that spirit to the pickleball court, squaring off against each other (and Spencer!) in some friendly competition.

These shared experiences show how much community is a core part of a meaningful career.

Fresh Thinking Takes the Stage

The Tindership Idea Showcase puts our interns’ creativity in the spotlight, a company-wide, cross-collaborative capstone event that brings the year’s cohort together to explore a Tinder-inspired challenge.

Prompts range from reimagining a user’s first week on Tinder, to how to more seamlessly help connections move from online to real life, to making dating’s most awkward IRL moments more palatable.

At the core of each prompt is the very core of Tinder itself: people. Who are we designing for? What do they need? Would this idea matter to them? Would it make their lives better?

Through a five-minute pitch and a visual concept—a mockup, storyboard, or user journey—interns practice making their ideas tangible and explaining the choices behind them. And feedback and recognition come in just as many forms: user insight, creativity, implementation potential, and an audience-selected favorite.

Tindership Application/Interview Tips

Just like we support our hires every step of the way, we want to give applicants everything they need to succeed. Here are some tips for prospective interns:

  1. Bring your experience and curiosity: We’re interested in the experiences that have shaped you and the ideas you bring—whether through coursework, work, or personal projects. Show us how you explore what’s new, including AI tools, through something you’ve tried, built, or have always been interested in. We care more about how you learn and adapt than about having every answer.
    ‍
  2. Focus on why (and what): At Tinder, we’re dedicated to sparking meaningful connections. Don’t just list what you’ve done. Tell us the story behind it. We want to understand how you approach problems, weigh different perspectives, what you learned, and what you’re excited to tackle next.
    ‍
  3. Apply with confidence: Last year, 30,000 people applied for 30 Tindership spots. We’re honored by each and every one. Your next connection could be the one that starts your career at Tinder.
    ‍
  4. Bring your perspective: Get to know Tinder and come ready to share your ideas. What stands out to you? What would you improve, and why? We’re curious about how you think and what your experiences could bring to the way we build connections.

This year’s program offers opportunities across our global offices, with interns working on a hybrid schedule. Please review each role’s office location and make sure you can meet its in-office requirements before getting in touch.
