Our Mission:

Launched in 2012, Tinder® revolutionized how people meet, growing from 1 match to one billion matches in just two years. This rapid growth demonstrates its ability to fulfill a fundamental human need: real connection. Today, the app has been downloaded over 630 million times, leading to over 97 billion matches, serving approximately 50 million users per month in 190 countries and 45+ languages - a scale unmatched by any other app in the category. In 2024, Tinder won four Effie Awards for its first-ever global brand campaign, “It Starts with a Swipe”™

The Role:

The Tinder Integrity team is responsible for the systems, rules, workflows, and policies that help keep Tinder and its members safe. It is a multidisciplinary team of engineers, product managers, analysts, ML practitioners, and policy experts. The Anti-Abuse team serves as a first line of defense against scaled abuse by identifying emerging threats, investigating anomalous behavior, and driving mitigation quickly and clearly across partners.

We’re hiring a Senior Anti-Abuse Analyst to investigate emerging abuse patterns, assess ecosystem impact, and drive mitigation from initial detection via durable follow-through. This person should be highly curious, strong in SQL, comfortable working through ambiguity, and effective at moving from raw signals to concrete action. The role is not just about generating insights, it requires taking short-term action to reduce harm while turning findings into repeatable defenses, product recommendations, and longer-term strategy.

This role is ideal for someone who can:

  • investigate abuse at the event and account level
  • connect micro-level anomalies to macro ecosystem impact

  • communicate early and often as situations evolve

  • and help turn one-off incidents into durable heuristics, monitoring, and operational improvements.

Where you’ll work

This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration three times per week (Los Angeles, New York, Palo Alto, or San Francisco).

In this role, you will:

  • Investigate emerging abuse patterns, anomalous activity, and new bad actor tactics, and quickly assess scale, urgency, and likely ecosystem impact.
  • Serve as a first line of defense for scaled abuse by triaging incidents, identifying the right next steps, and helping reduce time-to-action.
  • Use SQL to analyze raw event-level data, understand tactic prevalence, quantify exposure and user reports impact, and connect micro-level signals to broader ecosystem health.
  • Translate investigative findings into concrete mitigations such as rule changes, batch actions, monitoring improvements, escalations, and strategic recommendations.
  • Monitor the quality and health of existing rules and signals, including precision/recall, false positives, false negatives, and drift over time.
  • Help improve durable defenses by identifying repeatable patterns, anticipating bad actor adaptation, and refining logic, workflows, and response playbooks.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with Product, Policy, Engineering, Member Experience, and leadership, including sharing partial findings, evolving hypotheses, and recommended actions early.
  • Drive issues from initial detection through mitigation, follow-through, and retrospective learning.
  • Mentor junior team members on investigation quality, abuse reasoning, and operating with strong ownership.

You'll need:

  • 3+ years of experience working on abuse-adjacent or adversarial problem spaces such as Trust & Safety, fraud, risk, cybersecurity, platform integrity, or complex operational investigations.
  • Strong SQL skills and the ability to investigate large datasets at both the micro and macro level.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, investigate, and respond to ambiguous or emerging issues with sound judgment and urgency.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to provide clear updates, explain tradeoffs, and share incomplete but useful findings as investigations develop.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with partners such as Product, Engineering, Policy, Operations, or customer-facing teams to drive mitigation or operational improvements.
  • Ability to connect investigation findings to measurable impact, including ecosystem harm, reports, prevalence, exposure, or algorithm/heuristic performance.
  • Experience turning one-off investigations into repeatable workflows, rules, monitoring, or escalation paths.
  • Strong ownership and follow-through, with the ability to independently drive scoped areas of work from problem discovery to resolution.

Nice to have:

  • BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Intelligence Studies, Cybersecurity or related field.
  • Python experience for lightweight automation, workflow improvements, or analysis.
  • Familiarity with rules systems or the ability to ramp quickly on internal logic frameworks such as Java, Drools, or similar.
  • Experience building dashboards, recurring reporting, or monitoring frameworks in tools such as Tableau, Mode, Grafana, or Databricks.
  • Experience with signal strategy, cohorting, clustering, anomaly detection, or other lightweight modeling approaches.
  • Direct Trust & Safety experience in dating, social, marketplace, or other adversarial online ecosystems.
  • Experience partnering with ML or engineering teams to operationalize abuse mitigation strategies.
  • Experience mentoring teammates or leading cross-functional incident response.

As a full-time employee, you’ll enjoy:

  • Flexible Vacation, 10 Sick Days
  • Time off to volunteer and charitable donations matching
  • Comprehensive health, vision, and dental coverage
  • 100% 401(k) employer match up to 10%, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
  • 100% paid parental leave (including for non-birthing parents), family forming benefits, and Milk Stork, which provides access to breast milk shipping for business travel, surrogacy, and employee relocation
  • Investment in your development: mentorship through our MentorMatch program, access to 6,000+ online courses through Udemy, and an annual stipend for your professional development
  • Investment in your wellness: access to mental health support via Modern Health, and Insight Timer; paid concierge medical membership, pet insurance, fitness membership subsidy, and commuter subsidy
