The Role:

As Creative Director you will develop and lead Tinder’s internal creative team, Tinder Studio. The Creative Director should have a deep understanding of brand and creative strategy, experience working deeply with product teams to improve the product experience, a proven ability to inspire and develop teams, and a collaborative, can-do attitude to work across a broad range of cross-functional partners.

Tinder Studio is a team of multi-disciplinary creatives, and acts as a partner across product and brand to deliver high-quality creative solutions, quickly and efficiently delivering work across many functions: Product Design, Product Marketing, CRM, Comms, Internal Branding, Brand Partnerships, and more. Because this role works with so many teams, the Creative Director must be able to build trust and relationships to collaborate across a large variety of cross-functional partners across functions and geographies.

The Creative Director must also be able to juggle high work volumes for the team, prioritize high impact projects, and proactively find opportunities where the Studio team can own projects end to end that elevate creative work across the mix. Most importantly, the Creative Director is responsible for managing our creative point-of-view across product and marketing efforts and partners with both to maintain and elevate the brand in the product experience.

Where you’ll work:

This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration three days per week. This position is located in West Hollywood, or San Francisco, California.

In this role, you will:

  • Brand Expression Guardrails:
  • Evolve and protect the Tinder brand visual identity and tone of voice. Build the tools that will allow other cross-functional teams (marketing, product design, BD, PR, employer branding, etc) to build creative that looks and sounds consistent across markets and channels
  • Provide guidance to key partners on art direction, tone of voice, and overall branding within product and marketing surfaces

  • Product Design:
  • Partner with the Product Design team to infuse our brand into all aspects of the product experience including, but not limited to, video, illustration, voice and tone, audio and more beyond
  • Advocate for the emotional brand experience to come through in the product designs and able to influence key partners to elevate the product experience

  • Product Marketing:
  • Develop tool kits for global markets to use to support product launches or other key promotional activities
  • Be a thought partner to PMM on strategic positioning, value prop development, naming, and launch support of new features

  • Partnerships - Collaborate with BD, ad sales, and brand team to:
  • Provide brand materials to assist the BD team tell the Tinder brand story to potential partners
  • Concept and pitch brand partnerships
  • Develop pitch presentations for partners

  • CRM - Deliver strong, elevated creative across CRM channels including email, push, modals, and more.

  • Internal Branding - Partner with the people team to highlight the employer brand experience through social platforms, recruiting websites, intranet and company programming.

  • Video - Reinstate our production efforts with more video, editing, and production capabilities to produce sizzle reels, feature education, branded marketing/content, and employee/internal branding.

  • Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Set the agenda:
  • Continuously find and scope the right projects for the team to deliver high impact work
  • Provide clarity and focus for the team, including setting the right short and long term priorities, and providing the right creative and brand direction to the company
  • Evangelize and advocate for the work:
  • Develop a perspective on which projects should be prioritized
  • Work transparently and collaboratively
  • Discuss the work and generate consensus with leadership and cross-functional partners

  • Build and mentor the team:
  • Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team of creatives, providing direction and coaching to enable them to implement at a high level
  • Champion and develop great talent that can help build new team competencies and expand Tinder Studio impact
  • Create a sense of purpose for the team that motivates and inspires the team to do great work
  • Responsible for operational structure, performance reviews, and career development plans for each team member
  • Give the team exposure to the right executive and business partners
  • Be champion of creativity, branding, pop culture, storytelling and our members
  • An ability to set a vision and inspire trust across cross-functional partners; generate consensus for the work being done, and find / create new ways to partner to help solve organizational branding/creative challenges 

You’ll need:

  • 10+ years in branding, either on the agency side or in-house creative team.
  • Proven team leader with a passion for developing talent, and experience building out new capabilities and leading change.
  • Experience working with both product and marketing teams to ensure consistency and impact across all customer touch-points.
  • A highly collaborative leader with strong influencing skills who can set a vision, build trust, and get results across XF and global teams.
  • Ability to set direction even when faced with ambiguity.
  • Passion for the category and our members. 

Salary Range:

$190,000
-
$215,000
a year

Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
