The Role:

In this role reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you will lead a talented team of researchers and experience strategists in understanding and communicating one of humanity’s most fundamental needs - the need for connection. Partnering with teams across the organization and most closely with product development, you will ensure that Tinder is equipped with the insights needed to innovate and continuously evolve to meet the changing needs of our users and drive optimal business performance. This role combines strategic leadership, analytical expertise, and collaborative partnerships across the organization to influence product strategy and innovation.

In this role, you will:

  • Consumer Insights Strategy & Leadership: Develop and execute the overall consumer insights strategy to develop a deeper understanding of our users, their needs, preferences, behaviors, and attitudes. Lead the team in delivering insights that generate actionable insights and directly influence product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Market & Consumer Research: Oversee the design, execution, and interpretation of consumer research initiatives, leveraging best-in-class quantitative and qualitative methods (e.g., surveys, focus groups, user interviews, ethnographies, A/B testing, etc.)
  • User Experience & Product Development: Ensure that user insights are integrated into the product lifecycle, from ideation through launch, and continually advocate for user-centered design. Provide feedback to product teams on user needs and pain points to help optimize the user experience and engagement. Lead the User Experience Research (UXR) to ensure ease-of-use, accessibility, and optimal feature design, supporting experiments and de-risking major projects.
  • Team Management & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of researchers and UX strategists. Create the organizational structure/systems and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Voice of the customer: Ensure ongoing monitoring and sharing of customer sentiment, such as customer panels, AI and other resources. Partner with teams across the organization to highlight and address issues and opportunities, and employ optimal, varied research methods to answer the highest priority questions.
  • Product Development lifecycle: Partner closely with product and design teams throughout the product lifecycle, including:
  • Product strategy development and prioritization - Deliver actionable insights and recommendations to leadership, helping to drive product and design decisions and ensure alignment of product/feature offerings with consumer needs.
  • Identify actionable segmentation and persona development to inform product strategy/priorities and product design.
  • Innovation and Ideation - Lead Design Thinking practice with cross-functional teams to ideate, prototype and test new concepts and features.
  • Validate hypotheses as quickly and cheaply as possible to maximize chances for success for new features.
  • UXR - Closely Partner with product and design to ensure ease-of-use, accessibility, and feature fit of new projects and features. I.e. 250-300 experiments run each quarter at Tinder, UXR can increase probability of success of higher profile experiments
  • Customer Journey mapping - understand what users do, think, and feel as they engage across all Tinder touch points.
  • Executive Reporting & Communication:Present key insights and recommendations to C-suite executives and other senior stakeholders in a clear, compelling manner. Ensure that insights are communicated in a way that is relevant, actionable, and tied to business outcomes.

You'll need:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Psychology, Sociology, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in consumer insights, market research, or product strategy within a technology or consumer-facing company. At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role managing teams.
  • Expertise: Strong experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including survey design, focus groups, user interviews, ethnography, and A/B testing. Experience with consumer segmentation, data analytics, and behavioral data.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with research tools and platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, Nielsen, Google Analytics, Tableau, SPSS, etc.). Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., R, Python) and statistical methods.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the digital/social media, online dating, or relationship-building industries, including emerging trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and influence decision-making at the executive level.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex insights in a clear, engaging, and impactful manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to synthesize large volumes of data and turn them into actionable business insights.
  • Deep Customer Empathy: Proven ability to walk in our customer’s shoes and understand their needs, behaviors and motivations without bias.
